Local member Melissa Price says the Commonwealth is funding seven arts projects in the Durack electorate.
This includes two in the Kimberley.
East Kimberley Indigenous Print and Jewellery workshops at the Barramundi Concert, which is to culminate in a photographic shoot and fashion parade - $17,380.
Gudirr Gudirr, a solo contemporary dance work by Indigenous performer Dalisa Pigram – $10,000.

Durack welcomes funding for new arts projects

Federal Member for Durack Melissa Price today welcomed funding for seven highly deserving arts organisations throughout the Durack electorate, which will provide more opportunities for audiences and artists to experience and participate in the arts.
“This funding will ensure a continued and vibrant arts program in Durack that the whole community can enjoy,” Ms Price said.
Project grants to be delivered in Durack include:
• Barramundi Concert Organising Committee – $17,380
• Gascoyne Arts Council – $19,581
• Burringurrah Womens Centre – $19,999
• Gascoyne In May – $19,880
• Marrugeku Inc – $10,000
• Shire of Merriden – $10,000
• Gascoyne Circus and Physical Theatre – $10,000
More than $1.3 million was provided for 84 projects in regional areas across Australia under the Australian Government’s Regional Arts Fund Community Grants Program.
The Regional Arts Fund supports artists and community-based arts organisations to pursue creative excellence in Australia’s regional and rural centres.
“I congratulate all of the successful arts organisations, wish them well in their endeavours and look forward to the results,” Ms Price said.
